Event description:
The first Southwest Microsurgery Training Course is a free, full-day event designed to introduce and develop advanced microsurgical skills in a highly supportive, hands-on environment.
Led by experienced consultant plastic surgeons, this course will cover the core principles of microsurgery, including nerve repair, arterial and venous anastomosis, venous coupling, and vein graft techniques. The programme combines focused teaching sessions with extensive practical experience to ensure participants gain both confidence and technical precision.
Attendees will have access to 9 operating microscopes, enabling an outstanding training experience with 1:1 or 1:2 supervision throughout the day. This high faculty-to-participant ratio ensures continuous expert guidance, personalised feedback, and the opportunity to refine techniques in real time.
The course is free of charge offered to SouthWest Trainees at present with the aim to advertise nationally next year.
