Cosmetic Surgery Review- call for evidence
2nd October 2012
Time is running out for people to contribute their views on the cosmetic surgery industry.
The call for evidence in the review of the regulation of cosmetic interventions closes on the 15 October and Bruce Keogh, who is leading the review, is particularly keen to encourage those who work in the industry to feed through their perspective and recommendations.
The specific areas that are being considered by the panel, and which require the input of the profession include:
• the regulation and safety of products used in cosmetic interventions;
• how best to ensure that the people who carry out procedures have the necessary skills and qualifications;
• how to ensure that organisations have the systems in place to look after their patients both during their treatment and afterwards;
• how to ensure that people considering cosmetic surgery and procedures are given the information, advice and time for reflection to make an informed choice; and
• what improvements are needed in dealing with complaints so they are listened to and acted upon.
Bruce Keogh said:
“We have been delighted at the response so far from individuals and interested parties to the call for evidence. We want to remind people, particularly those who work in the cosmetic service industry, to contribute their views if they haven’t done so already, before the 15th October.
