BAPRAS surgeons recognised in The Times top children’s doctors 2012

We are pleased to see that The Times recognised BAPRAS surgeons in their list of Britain’s top children’s doctors 2012. Among the doctors celebrated working in the area of plastic and reconstructive surgery were BAPRAS member surgeons Niall Kirkpatrick, David Dunaway and Adriaan Grobbelaar.
Niall Kirkpatrick is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Craniofacial Unit, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. He is Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London and Honorary Consultant in the Head and Neck Unit at Charing Cross Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. He is a past President of the Royal Society of Medicine Plastic Surgery Section and a Trustee and the Medical Director of “Facing The World”, an international children’s charity providing craniofacial surgery to children worldwide.
David Dunaway is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. In his position as head of the craniofacial unit, he led pioneering work last year separating conjoined twins Rital and Ritag Gaboura, who were born with fused skulls. He is also a lead reconstructive surgeon for the charity Facing Africa, which aims to help those affected by Noma disease.
Adriaan Grobbelaar is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Royal Free Hospital, London. One of the world’s leading facial reanimation specialists, he has pioneered innovative treatments and has published more than 100 papers in medical literature.
We are glad to see that the important and innovative work that BAPRAS surgeons have pioneered in 2012 has been commended, and look forward to building on these achievements in 2013.
