Plastic surgery advancements showcased in 'Dragon's Den' session at BAPRAS Winter Meeting

Today saw the first meeting of the BAPRAS Innovation Group, showcasing the best innovation in plastic surgery, with the ultimate goal of developing new, safer and more efficient practices and products

Ryan Kerstein, the Innovation Group Lead said "BAPRAS is the first association to dedicate time to sharing and encouraging innovation within the specialty. Adopting novel ways to deliver service and improve practice is crucial to both patient outcomes and efficiency".

Among the exciting new products and processes being showcased in a 'Dragon's Den' style session include a robot for craniofacial surgery which has the ability to cut bone safely, while protecting the overlying tissue; a mobile app to streamline the ability of trainees to deal with referrals; an online portal to improve aesthetic plastic surgery training; a prototype forcep to reduce tremor in microsurgical practice.
