BAPRAS response to Lord Howe's review

14th May 2012

Following the recent concerns about PIP implants, a review has been published by the Department of Health, led by Lord Howe, the Minister for Quality, to establish what happened in the UK when the Department of Health and MHRA learned of the situation with PIP implants in France.

Graeme Perks, Vice-President of BAPRAS said “BAPRAS welcomes the findings of Lord Howe’s Review and hope that this will lead to improvements in the regulatory system for medical devices. We will continue to petition for greater patient safety and we will continue to play an active role in Sir Bruce Keogh’s ongoing separate review of regulation for cosmetic interventions. One of our key objectives is to see the establishment of a national, compulsory register for all episodes of breast implantation.”
